What it is, what it is, what it is... shed no tears! Before we get to the sounds of beatdowns this month, I wanna give a special shoutout to all my KPB brethren who made it to EVO 2014 this year. You boys did the damn thing! After the jump, let's hit the sounds...
This month's Anthem is something of a throwback, but trust that it will all make sense in the end. The sounds having their way with your ears right now belong to the legendary George Harrison. Most of us know him as a member of the Beatles, but Georgy here really started to shine once he went solo. In fact, I do believe Cracked.com said it best:
"If anyone ever tells you that there is a better Beatles solo album than All Things Must Pass, congratulations, you've probably just met Paul McCartney. Everyone else knows better." - Adam Tod Brown
Now, I'm not here to conduct that old litmus test of "Elvis or the Beatles" because, to be perfectly honest, that comparison is BS anyways. What I am here to do is share music with all of you. Today, that music just so happens to be "Art of Dying". From the guitar work to the horns backing it up, I love this song. Lyrically, it's a deep track that deals primarily with the idea of reincaration. Pretty heavy stuff from the guy that also gave us a cover of "Got My Mind Set on You". All shapes & sizes, I guess...
So who deserves such a transcendant piece of artfully crafted music? Who do we know that could possibly have such a profound understanding to the art of dying that this song would fit them so perfectly, it would be considered a sin not to link the two together? Well, that's simple... the best person to master the art of dying is somebody who won't stay dead.
If there was anybody that knows about dying, it'd be Deadpool. Due to his gaining a healing factor that is based off of (but actually surpassing) Wolverine's mutation, Wade here is just a mere 5 seconds away from being pretty much all out immortal. He's so unkillable that he's pulling a bit of a 'Billy Paul' with none other Death herself. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course.
Until next time... keep fighting the good fight, my friends.
