Aphro’s Asskicking Anthems – December 2014

What it is, what it is, what it is... shed no tears! The one & only Aphro Dynamek has once again been digging around through the digital crates for some more music to share with all you beautiful people. This month's spin selection is one for the history books. After the jump, let's get it going...

For those of you who are hearing it for the first time, this audible badassery is a track from the Asura's Wrath OST. If that name sounds at all familiar to you, as a member of the FGC, it's probably because of this clip right here & its practically necessary sequel. This song in particular is the battle theme for Yasha (a possible future candidate for the Malloy List). Now, as much as I enjoy the experience, I have a difficult time calling Asura's Wrath a game. At best, it's an interactive anime. However, the soundtrack is, well... simply breathtaking.

Now it falls to yours truly to decide where, in the pantheon of all gaming, should this particular track reside. Who deserves to have this song as their off-the-record theme music? I suppose there are some, who actually have "wolf" in their name, that it could fit. Hell, I could even assign it to one of the actual wolves in gaming. I'm not going to do any of that, though. Doing that would simply be too easy. No, if this is going to happen, then it's going to be done right. With that in mind, there's really only one person I could think of who is described almost verbatim by this track's title...

Being -this- cool has got to be illegal somewhere in the world, I'm sure of it.

I wasn't kidding when I said verbatim earlier. It may never be more on point than it is when it comes to the Legendary Wolf himself, Terry Bogard. I ask you, my FGC brothers & sisters, what could possibly be left to say about this guy? This is the man who has been kicking ass in games for over twenty years throughout not only his own series, but the major series, as well. And just in case you thought that was enough... he popped up in a future series just because he could! Don't even get me started about his crossover work. Hell, he's such a badass that his hat made a prominent cameo in a completely different series... simply put, the man has put in the work.

As for the song, just think about it... this track could be playing at any part of his day -- while he's on his bike, while he's training or kicking ass, maybe even while he's playing sports -- and it would still fit him perfectly. Also, another thing to consider: the title of this song is "Orphan Wolf Legend"... that describes him to a fault. Remember, even though he calls Andy his brother, they're still orphans. For all we know, Terry & Andy might not even be related, but that's a topic for another day.

Until next time... keep fighting the good fight, my friends.
